Our Charity
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in
men.
In Alberta 1 in 6 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer and on average
8 men die each week.
All funds raised from the Annual Remington Charity Golf Classic will go to The Prostate Cancer Centre. The Centre is a world-class organization that has over 22,000 visitations from men and their families annually and continues to be the benchmark for prostate health. Since 1999 the not-for-profit Centre has offered medical treatment, post-operative nursing care, peer support and counseling, education and awareness, research, and community outreach with MAN VAN™ mobile health clinics.
In 2005, the Centre launched its first Rapid Access clinic, which significantly reduced wait times for men seeking consultations with urologists from three months to under ten days. Two years later, the Centre introduced the Man Van™, Canada's sole mobile PSA clinic that has enabled access to free PSA blood tests to over 53,000 individuals in 138 communities across Alberta.
Today the Centre offers five Rapid Access clinics that enable a patient to meet a variety of specialists, choose their treatment path and to have access to personalized nursing before, during, and after treatment. The Centre’s newest endeavour is an expansion of area and programing. The new 9,000 sq. foot area will offer pre and post-habilitation, exercise and nutrition programs, recovery support, mental wellness programs, cutting-edge research, and educational programs for the men in our community. This work has been completed with no government funding and relies completely on the generosity of community members and local sponsors.
